Job Description

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the SSSU/PACU setting is responsible for providing skilled nursing care across Pre-operative, Post-operative, PACU, Phase II recovery, Endoscopy, and Infusion services. This role requires strong clinical skills in peri-operative assessment, patient education, and recognition of post-anesthesia and post-operative complications. The RN will also float across various outpatient service areas including day surgery and conscious sedation procedures, ensuring comprehensive patient care. A minimum of two years' experience in SSSU/PACU/Pre/Post settings is required, with charge nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care in Pre-operative, Post-operative, PACU, Phase II, Endoscopy, and Infusion areas.
• Perform peri-operative nursing assessments and patient education.
• Recognize and respond to post-anesthesia and post-operative complications.
• Float to various outpatient service units including day surgery, endoscopy lab, post anesthesia care unit, pre-operative clinic, and conscious sedation procedures.
• Participate in shared on-call rotation as required.
• Perform duties as charge nurse when assigned.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of two years' experience in SSSU, PACU, Pre-operative, and Post-operative nursing.
• Strong nursing assessment skills including peri-operative education and care.
• Ability to recognize post-anesthesia and post-operative complications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Charge nurse experience.

Special Considerations:

• Shared on-call rotation participation is required.
• Flexibility to float across multiple outpatient service areas.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts per week.
• Schedule is variable and may include different shift assignments.
